Marpe Signs 6 Billion VND Export Contract with Chi Linh Hospital in Vietnam

The Ministry of Health and Welfare’s medical device export support project is beginning to show tangible results.

The Korea Medical Devices Industry Cooperative recently announced that Marpe Co., Ltd. signed an equipment supply contract worth 6 billion Vietnamese Dong (approximately USD 260,000) with Chi Linh General Hospital located in Hai Duong City, northern Vietnam.

Marpe is a small-to-medium enterprise specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation devices. Since 2015, it has participated in the Overseas Medical Device Comprehensive Support Center (Vietnam Center) project of the Medical Device Cooperative to jointly develop the Vietnamese market.

With support from the Vietnam Center, Marpe has handled product approvals, exhibitions, and buyer matching activities. Last year, it supplied equipment worth about USD 50,000 to Vinh Duc Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

Recently, Marpe also signed supply contracts with Thanh Mau Hospital and the Ho Chi Minh District 3 Rehabilitation Center and is currently working on selecting specific items for supply.

A Marpe official said, “Orthopedic rehabilitation devices are a new concept in Vietnam, requiring long-term marketing efforts to raise awareness of their necessity. This contract was made possible thanks to diverse marketing support such as export consultation meetings and seminars provided consistently by the Vietnam Center.”

Kim Yong-seop, director of the Vietnam Center, stated, “The Vietnamese medical device market is rapidly expanding due to continuous economic growth, increased birth rates and life expectancy, and the enactment of health insurance laws, all of which drive growing demand for medical devices. The Vietnam Center will continue to support medical device companies aiming to enter the Vietnamese market, helping them succeed as in Marpe’s case.”

The Overseas Medical Device Comprehensive Support Center, operated by the Korea Medical Devices Industry Cooperative with support from the Ministry of Health and Welfare since 2013, assists Korean medical device companies in entering local markets in Vietnam and Indonesia. It provides support for local approvals, import agency services, marketing, and after-sales management, playing a key role in boosting Southeast Asian exports by Korean manufacturers.
